Currently working on a colorful painting (80-120 cm ) inspired by the former iconic Hotel Hamdorff in Laren, The Netherlands. A unique place where people danced and celebrated, where artists and thinkers met. Where figures such as Henry Singer and where painters like Piet Mondriaan and Jozef Israëls came together. A location with a rich and vibrant cultural history. With this new work, I like to bring a sense of that past moment back to life. While developing the painting, I explored archival material and even spoke to a great grand child of Jan Hamdorff. This deepend my appreciation for the richness of this place. But also raised the question, how could such a remarkable place disappear. This is exactly why I am painting "The Guest"...
