"The Guest", is inspired by the former Hotel Hamdorff in Laren, The Netherlands. For this painting, I explored its history, looking into archives and stories that brought the place back to life. I also talked with family of the founder Jan Hamdorff, to get a good feeling about this place. In my interpretation, a contemporary visitor arrives at the site that no longer exists, now imagined as being slowly taken over by nature. What was once vibrant and full of life has disappeared, yet still feels present. Size 80-120 cm.

This work will be exhibited as part of the Anna Singer Art Exhibition at Singer Museum Laren, The Netherlands, from 16-22 November 2026
