CREATOR

From the age of 4, Jos Brölmann has been drawing and painting. After working for many years in the several areas in the international creative and marketing industry, he decided to use his creativity in art. His recognizable and colorful work has one clear message. It tells us about the fast changing time we are living in. Within this blueprint, he designed Art of Nosybirds and Weathermap. In the end, each of his paintings tells its own story.

His work finds its home in various European countries, but also in the United States and Canada. Jos has lived in Amsterdam for more than 25 years, The Netherlands within a few hundred meters from well-known museums like the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh.

In PROGRESS

"IN PROGRESS" is my open studio. A place for everthing that happens before my painting settles into its final form. Here, ideas and inspirations are free to wander. They shift and occasionally take a complete different turn. So you'll find sketches, fragments of inspiration, notes, visual experiments and more. Actually, all loose threats behind my work.

Well, some paintings start with a clear plan and others grow more intuitively.
Along the way, compositions change, and colors are considered and new elements are added. Most important is the joy of making. I hope you can feel that and that it brings a smile on your face.

ART BOUNCING ON OUR ACCELERATING LIFE

OUR WORLD MOVES FAST. FASTER EVERY DAY. MY PAINTINGS SIMPLY LOOK AT WHAT HAPPENS IN BETWEEN. THE ODD, QUIET, AND THE JOYFUL DETAILS WE MIGHT OTHERWISE MISS.  I LIKE TO SLOW THOSE MOMENTS DOWN, CHANGE THE PERSPECTIVE AND GIVE THEM A LITTLE MORE ROOM. COLOR PLAYS AN IMPORTANT PART IN THAT. NOT AS DECORATION BUT AS ENERGY. SOMETIMES THE SUBJECT IS AN ORDINARY MOMENT, SOMETIMES IT IS THE WEATHER, A CITY, A MEMORY OR A COMPLETE SPONTANEOUS IMPULSE. WHAT CONNECTS THEM IS THE WAY I LOOK AT THOSE THINGS.

BRIGHT COLORS

I intuitively like to create bright paintings. My work is strongly directed by the story behind the painting and like to bring back a complex impression to a joyful work that pleases the eye. In the end, I like my painting to have a sense of celebration. Because everything around us accelerates and changes. So need an enthusiastic painting that puts things into a different and happy perspective.

CHOOSE WHAT YOU SEE | NOSYBIRDS

Everything constantly shouts for our attention. Notifications, screens, news, noise, you name it. They're trying to get into our heads. But do we really need to look at all of it? And to react to it? Well, I don't think so. That's where the character  Nosybirds comes in.

I created them as little, colorful reminders to decide for yourself what deserves your attention. Curious characters that encourage us to look up, look around and stay curious about what's happening around us. Especially now, when everything around us seems to be accelerating.

ABOUT ME.

I live for more than 30 years in Amsterdam, The Netherlands near well-known museums like Van Gogh and Rijksmuseum. I've been drawing and making things as long as I can remember. After my study and spending many years in international creative and advertising industry I eventually found my way back to painting. Today, I paint from my place in Amsterdam, developing my own work. My work has been exhibited in the Netherland and abroad, from Singer Museum Laren to Ministry of Interior in The Hague. From galleries to the highest floors of Amsterdam's tallest buildings. My paintings are in private collections across Europe and the US and I also work on commission.
